Earlier this year, Bracketts proudly joined Amplifi, a vibrant initiative in Tunbridge Wells focused on fostering sustainable business practices. This collaboration underscores Bracketts’ commitment to playing an active role in addressing the climate emergency. We are excited to be part of a new era of sustainability for Tunbridge Wells!
The journey toward Amplifi’s creation began when Pete Kenyon, Partner at local law firm Cripps, and Jenny Kitchen MD of creative agency Yoyo Design, met as friendly strangers at Fine Grind coffee shop in late 2022. United by the belief that businesses must confront the climate crisis, they shared personal concerns about the state of the world and its impact on future generations. Rather than succumbing to anxiety, they sought to channel their feelings into positive action.
Amplifi was born from this vision, aiming to unite local businesses in a collective effort to promote sustainability. With insights from William Benson, Chief Executive of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, the founders discussed how to develop a cohesive approach across the business community. Inspired by Bristol’s progressive policies, they shifted their focus to make Tunbridge Wells a hub for sustainable practices.
Bracketts Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents is excited to be part of this mission. By joining Amplifi, we are not only enhancing their sustainability initiatives but also collaborating with others to break down barriers that hinder progress. The initiative’s first step involved listening to the business community, leading to a survey where over 200 local voices expressed their concerns about climate change and their desire for businesses to take action.
Recognising that many businesses want to do more but face obstacles like limited resources and time, Amplifi aims to foster a sector-led approach. This collaborative framework enables organisations to work together, share knowledge, and build confidence in their sustainability efforts.
With almost 200 years experience in the property industry, Bracketts is well placed to not only partner with other businesses in the town but to offer insight and advice. We have therefore joined the Real Estate Sector Group, led by Helen Hunnisett and Liz Carter and we are proud to be a member of the Property Advisory Panel. This group aims to bring landlords and tenants closer together and to help improve buildings carbon footprint. The panel headed up by local architect, Mark Wakelin of Tangent Space Ltd. More information on these sub-groups and committees to follow!
Bracketts has already taken significant steps toward sustainability, including signing up for the Nero Zero Now initiative. This program will start with an in-depth audit of our carbon emissions, providing a clear framework for reducing our environmental impact. Furthermore, Bracketts has spearheaded a tree planting initiative, Trees For Homes, successfully planting over 1,000 trees, which contributes to local biodiversity and helps combat climate change.
Joining Amplifi not only strengthens Bracketts’ sustainability efforts but also enhances our ability to collaborate with other businesses in the community. As Bracketts embarks on this journey with Amplifi, the goal is clear: to position Tunbridge Wells as a leader in sustainable business practices. By amplifying our collective impact, we hope to inspire others and show what can be achieved when businesses unite for the greater good. Together, we can make a significant difference in our community and beyond.
