Westerham village is located in the north-west corner of Kent on the Surrey borders. Planning wise it is overseen by Sevenoaks Borough Council, Sevenoaks being to the east. Historically, settlement within the area dates from the 9th Century. In 1227, it was awarded a market charter by Henry VIII and the village was a major player in the buying and selling of cattle until 1960. With a population of approximately 4,500, the village is famous as a location of Chartwell, Sir Winston Churchill's home for 40 years, and an independent brewery. Access to the A21 is approximately 6 miles distant and this connects to the coast, London and the M25 orbital motorway. The property is 3.5 miles from Oxted with a railway station providing access to London Bridge in approximately 33 minutes.
